How are we fighting the war against terrorism?

How are we really fighting this war on terrorism?

Sitting on my couch watching the 4th week of the news on terrorism unfold. I have to admit. It's scary and I will be honest, I even thought about avoiding the city in the hopes I wont get bombarded to smitherines or have my head hacked off by some Muslim extremist. I almost didn't go to Brisbane's riverfire because I heard that a terrorist had been stopped in his plot's to plant bombs in Southbank.

It's only really the last 2 weeks that I've heard more and more from the peaceful communities of Muslims who practice love and kindness, and their objections to these pig headed extremists using their religion as a means of practicing terrorism. So many public outcry's of hurt, betrayal and shame have come from the peaceful Muslim community but most of all disgust.

I've also heard a lot more from the millions of scared Australians around the country. We have these two cultures battling it out and sometime's, Australians forget who we are REALLY battling. We aren't battling the Muslim community and their religion. We are battling the extremists who want to "convert" our westernized culture into a Caliphate (one religious leader over all states/world).

I understand on many levels the fear, hatred and disgust these extremists have placed among our hearts as Australians, but I must confess, I am a little dissapointed in a lot of true blue Aussies about their racist and discriminatory behavior towards our worldly neighbors. Whether or not they came here, or where born, they will and always will be Australians in my eyes.

Something that I found shocking that showed up on my news feed was Jacqui Lambies introduction of "Banning the Burqua" **please see link down the middle of the page**. Not only do Australians know that Jacqui Lambie is a racist right wing pig headed idiot, but her proposal to "Ban the Burqua" is completely irrelevant and has no purpose other than to piss off the peaceful AND radicalized Muslim community. Banning a religious item of clothing wont help National Security. Yes their faces are covered but there are many, many instances in which a Muslim woman has to expose her face in Australian society, such as if she wants to get a passport. Start up a new bank account, or even fly overseas. Security forces don't just let them "waltz on through" without checking their identity first.

The next thing that I saw on my facebook news feed was a rather shocking and surprising post from my Grandmother herself, stating she had a Muslim woman come to her door asking if she wanted to convert to Muslim and join in a "New World Order". This, shocked me to no end. I unhappily did jump to the conclusion that maybe she herself was a terrorist converter, or "cultivator" but then again I wasn't there and I didn't ask for further information so I uneasily did let that assumption go. My Grandmother however was less than estatic about it. Let's just say if she had the opportunity she would have had some choice words to the woman. But my point being, is that could she have KNOWN for a fact that this woman was a terrorist supported or was she a peaceful Muslim, exercising her constitutional right to practice and preach her religion? We will never know because the ASSUMPTION was made that she was a terrorist supporter because she is associated with Muslim community.

The next friendly argument my Grandmother and I had was again on a photo of a newspaper article of a Muslim man showing his support and love for Australia and it's culture and the absolute shock and disgust at ISIS, plus Jaqui Lambies idiotic proposal to Parliament. Once again proving to me that not all Muslims are terrorists. This is what I had to say...

"Karma Robinson This is EXACTLY how it should be yes nanny I agree. The more the Muslim population speaks out against terrorism the more they're going to be accepted by western society. But in saying we should specifically ban a religious piece of clothing is politically and constitutionally wrong. Australia is founded upon nationalism and an acceptance of all races, religions and ethics in which we can all co-inside. If we make a bill and put it forward into parliament we might as well ban the catholic robes. The Turbans, ban monks from wearing their robes and such. Who's to say once we "hypothetically" get the burqa banned that it won't continue from there. Australia will be a hypocritical an false country if we allow these terrorists to scare us into being close minded intolerant fools

Karma Robinson Banning the burka won't change a thing nanny and in doing so will damage our already fragile relationship with the Muslim society and make the extremists hate us more

Karma Robinson What we need to be focusing on now is the ACTUAL threat to Australia which is ISIS. THEY are the ones terrorising the world and trying to push the world into a caliphate state by brutal force. It will never end because terrorism isn't just a few hundred people. It's an idea. And ideas are next to impossible to destroy.

My Grandmother is yet to respond but I hope she can see my point in all of this.

My point being to this whole blog message is that terrorism doesn't lay in the hearts and minds of peaceful Muslim people. It lays in the destitution of men who are scared, power hungry and most of all uneducated. We need to band together to help stop this flawed ideology from taking over the world and enslaving us. The Muslim community and Australian community need to band together and fight this together, instead of fighting one another. If we are the multicultural accepting Australians that I know us to be then we can beat this war on terrorism. So instead of taking arms to our fellow Muslim Australian men and women, we need to take up arms against terrorism and JOIN one another in the process. And together we can show these extremists that OUR ideology is just as strong and unshakable.

Hoping this message of peace get's through.
